Father of Pearls

Jim Banagan collects oyster cans, and he’s pretty good at it. When I photographed him his collection was around 3,000 cans and growing. And it’s not only a hobby. There is big money to be spent and made collecting these empty treasures, some of which are valued between $10,000 and $20,000.

A warm, welcoming man, he wouldn’t let me leave without giving me a can to start my collection. You can see my can here.
